A Journey into the Mystical Moonlight Cabins Barberton
My journey to Moonlight Cabins located just outside Barberton, South Africa, began with a sense of curiosity and adventure, driven by tales of UFO sightings and spiritual portals in the Bearded Man mountain range. Little did I know that this trip would be a transformative experience, extending my planned one-week stay into a blissful two-week retreat.
Geological Marvels and Ancient Wonders
One of the highlights of my stay was driving up the Makhonjwa Mountains Geo Trail just outside Barberton (South Africa) where I marveled at rocks dating back over 1 billion years. It was a humbling reminder of Earth’s ancient history and the geological wonders that surround us. I also learned about an inactive volcano nearby, a fascinating fact that sheds light on the area’s rich gold deposits.
The Mystique of Moonlight Cabins
What stood out most about Moonlight Cabins was the undeniable sense of mystique that permeated the area. From hiking through misty clouds to leisurely rowing a boat on the dam, the experience was truly enchanting. The sight of cows wandering freely added to the charm, while the melodic chorus of wild birds at dawn was simply glorious. Tasting the natural water from the lake highlighted the stark difference from the city water, offering a refreshing and pure experience.
I am super security conscious (paranoid) at my home in Johannesburg, yet somehow, I slept with my sliding door open at my cabin next to the Dam. As I journeyed back to Johannesburg, I couldn’t shake the feeling of having transitioned through alternate realities, as if caught in a time warp.
Meeting the Guardians of the Dam
During my stay, I had the pleasure of meeting remarkable individuals living off-grid at the nearby dam. Their unique way of life and deep connection to nature added another layer of richness to my experience. There were two people whom I was fortunate enough to meet in person namely.
